On November 10, 2023, Prof. Anna-Maria Totomanova was invited to give a lecture at the Francophone Institute of Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski".
The lecture, entitled "The Medieval Bulgarian Literary Heritage in the Digital Era" was part of the traditional "Linguistic Forum” of the Institute and the Department of Romance Studies to SU. Prof. Totomanova presented the digital resources for studying and researching the medieval Bulgarian texts and manuscripts and outlined their history and perspectives. She placed special emphasis on the importance of Bulgaria and its first Christian rulers for the spread of Christian culture and literature in Southern and Eastern Europe. The audience was extremely impressed not only by the quality and variety of the digital tools, but also by the fact that the Histdict system is already included in the National Roadmap for Research Infrastructures under the name "Electronic Infrastructure for Bulgarian Medieval Written Heritage" and participates in the start-up European Infrastructure for Religious Studies "RESILIENCE" as well. The colleagues from the department of Classical Philology were particularly impressed by the presentation, because they found that what is happening in the field of Slavic studies is consistent with what is being done for classical languages. Moreover, our infrastructure is unique because it provides a direct link between the text corpus and the dictionaries based on its linguistic material.
